This quote by Fr.Dominique Pire is beautiful and as relevant today as it was in the post WW2 European sector. If not more so. At a time when tensions were incredibly high, this pastor managed to inject a little sanity in a more than volatile situation where any sanity was missing. When you think about it, there isn’t much of that now a days, either.
With all of the problems facing Europe, the Middle East and America, this is what is needed to help combat an already crazy situation. It is crazy when people wearing turbines want to eradicate anyone of the Christian and Jewish faiths. When they think that it is cool to murder and decapitate anyone who disagrees with their perversions of beliefs. However, we have to be tolerant of their beliefs? Well, according to the Bible, in a sense, yes.
Things from “turn the other cheek,” to “forgive, or you will not be forgiven.” The whole message is about love and agreeing to disagree, forgiving and moving on.
Is this impossible in today’s turmoil and much less than kind world? Is insanity so far instilled in our lives that we cannot see the forest for the trees? I pray not.
