Worship Wednesday (Francesca Battistelli)

December 16, 2015

I love sound theology in worship songs.  This song is a wonderful reminder that we rest because God never sleeps, never slumbers, is never lost, is never surprised, never doubts.  In worship, I put all my hope in God with the restful soul of a child who can trust his Father.

He never sleeps, He never slumbers
He’s been awake at every hour
No tear catches Him by surprise
He’s never lost, He never runs out
He never lives in the shadows of doubt
No fear catches Him by surprise

Find rest my soul
Put your hope in God
Put your hope, put your hope in God

He always is, He always will be
He always has been everything I need
How can this be catching me by surprise
He’s ever strong, He’s ever faithful
His love is real, now nothing is impossible
‘Cause nothing catches Him by surprise

Find rest my soul
Put your hope in God
Put your hope, put your hope in God

I close my eyes, and I can see
The arms of mercy holding me
I close my eyes, and I can see
The arms of Jesus holding me

Find rest my soul
Put your hope in God
Put your hope, put your hope in God

Put your hope in God
Put your hope in God

  2. Her entire album is a blessing. ‘Run to Jesus’ is a favorite of mine when I’m out running the trails.

    Have a very Merry Christmas.

    • Hey Tahitha – I agree! I have been listening to the rest of the album on Spotify. I had thought we had all her albums but this one most have gotten by us. we are big Franceca fans. God Bless! JD

  3. Reblogged this on quirkywritingcorner and commented:
Too bad there’s no music to go with these wonderful lyrics.

    • Thanks for the reblog; It is so appreciated. God Bless! JD

  4. Amen! Beautiful worship!

  5. Song is a very effective teacher. Since so many churches have retired the old hymns, I hope and pray God will raise new artists to write songs that teach sound Biblical doctrine. It is a lack that needs filling.

    • Pam, there are SO many Christian artists who are writing and/or singing Biblically-based worship songs. Some of my favorites are Keith and Kristyn Getty, All Sons & Daughters, Selah, Housefires, Big Daddy Weave, Jonathan David and Melissa Helser, Kari Jobe. Maybe these are some you could share with young people you know?

      • Thank you, Anna. I’ll keep these names in mind.:0)

    • Hey Pam – I could not agree more. I think my favorite modern hymn writers are Keith and Kristyn Getty. They actual describe themselves in those terms. In my opinion, some of the best lyrics currently being written are in Christian rap. I just wish that I like rap (more).

      • I like melody and harmony too. Rap is about lyrics and not my style either. I guess I haven’t been hearing the right new music.:0)

      • I am with you on that. I can’t help to smile when I hear rappers like Flame, Lecrae, and Trip Lee preach the gospel. Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTLeHuvHXuk
