A DEVOTED LIFE 
Faith is a subject of great importance to me and has been since my first Bible teaching at a church camp in Michigan when I was a rising sophomore in high school back in the mid 1950s. Almost 60 years later, I am still yearning to know more about faith, not just to increase my knowledge but to increase my demonstration of faith, the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Thanks for sharing the statement from J. Gresham Machen.

I like this quote. It is easy to err on either side–focusing too much on the intellect, or too much on the emotions–rather than recognizing that faith in Christ impacts our whole being. As I have struggled to challenge emotions that contradict the truth, I have realized the importance of intaking God’s Word as the Spirit transforms me, in every way. Glad to find this blog! -R

Machen is well worth a read. His “Virgin Birth of Christ” is a great piece of careful research, and his “Christianity and Liberalism” is one of the clearest explanations of Christianity that I’ve read (http://www.reformed.org/books/chr_and_lib/).
