QUOTE (Helen Keller)
June 27, 2014“For three things I thank God every day of my life: thanks that he has vouchsafed me knowledge of his works; deep thanks that he has set in my darkness the lamp of faith; deep, deepest thanks that I have another life to look forward to–a life joyous with light and flowers and heavenly song.” ~ Helen Keller
“Unless we form the habit of going to the Bible in bright moments as well as in trouble, we cannot fully respond to its consolations because we lack equilibrium between light and darkness.” ~ Helen Keller
“If the blind put their hands in God’s, they find their way more surely than those who see but have not faith or purpose. ” ~ Helen Keller
In honor of Helen Keller, an American author, political activist, and lecturer, who was born on this day in 1880. She was the first deaf and blind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree.

Helen Keller>Quotes
Helen Keller was an inspirational figure in my childhood and I think it is sad that she has faded from view somewhat these days. Thank you for the reminder of this great lady and her wonderful teacher and companion, Anne Sullivan.
JD,
I appreciated so much your blog entry on Helen Keller. Last year my younger daughter shared a quote by Helen Keller, and it was the inspiration for this poem which I think you will appreciate. Thanks for the post and for the “likes” posted on Dr. J’s Apothecary Shoppe:
Faith is the Strength
Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light.
Helen Keller
Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
Hebrews 11:11
Faith is the strength by which many shattered worlds emerge,
In sacred places where stamina and endurance merge,
Far beyond the carbon edge of the darkest midnight,
For faith leads all who follow into the marvelous light
Where knowledge, wisdom, and understanding all converge.
As we seek to follow God’s guidance as He would urge,
At times we may go astray, even to the verge
Of despair, but you infuse strength in those who have no might.
Faith is the strength.
We must finish the work before life’s final tide shall surge.
Search our hearts, O Lord, that you might purify and purge.
In the midst of raging enemies, we fight the good fight,
As we continue to walk by faith and not by sight.
Despite signs of defeat, in triumph we still emerge:
Faith is the strength.

I was always proud as a child to share a birthday with this wonderful, wise woman. Her story and love for God inspired me so much as a child. Thank you for sharing.
