To all my friends from A Devoted Life:

I would greatly appreciate prayers from you all.

My Dad is critically ill and in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the hospital.  He has a gangrene infection in his gall bladder.  He is too ill for them to operate and remove his gall bladder.  We were just told that he is on life support and is experiencing organ failure of the kidneys and heart.  We understand that due to low blood pressure there may be other organ damage.

My Dad has loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for as long as I can remember.  He is the one that showed me what it looks like to truly love God.  His destination is assured.  Yet, we selfishly desire to keep him with us and earnestly desire our Lord to heal the infection within his body and restore his health.

We serve the King of kings and Lord of lords.  Our God set the stars in the sky and is sovereign beyond the horizons.  He has healed the ill before and he will do it again.  My prayer is that it will be His will to heal His beloved son who is in desperate need.

Soli Deo Gloria

  1. My heart goes out to you! ❤ It is always SO hard to let go, even when we know they're going to heaven… Prayers for peace and precious moments together!

  2. Lifting you all in prayer. Very sorry to hear about your dad. What a grand provision from God that you can reach out and have so many pray for you.

To quote your Feb 8 blog: We stand in the valley of our reality, believing only what our eyes can sense, oblivious to the grandeur that surrounds us. We are continually surrounded by colossal glory but blinded to the miracles that make our lives truly special.

  3. Sending prayers up to the Lord for your Dad….do keep us up to date on the progress…and may your heart be comforted in this time. Blessings to you.

  4. Prayers are coming your way! 🙂 Dave

  11. JD, I hope you don’t mind, but I posted the following on my Blog’s Prayer Line:
J.D. Blom’s Dad — Has a gangrene infection in his gall bladder. He is too ill for them to operate and remove his gall bladder. We were just told that he is on life support and is experiencing organ failure of the kidneys and heart. We understand that due to low blood pressure there may be other organ damage. Critically ill and in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the hospital.
Dear Father, I praise You, for You are wonderful, counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace. You are the Ultimate Physician. Dear Lord, according to Your Word, we are to expect miracles from You. We are to step out in faith and Know that You are God. You and You alone are our healer. If we abide in You and Your Words abide in us we shall ask anything in Your Name and It shall be done unto us. By Your stripes we are healed. I make this personal, Father. By Your stripes J.D.’s Dad shall be healed according to Your promises. Lord, You and You Alone have this power. So, I ask You to hear our cries oh Lord and heal this man. Let him be a living testimony to your wonderful healing power. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN.

  17. Dear God,
You are the Great Physician, the Creator of all there is, the designer and sculptor of this dear soul’s vessel of habitation. Please reach down from Heaven and heal his body if it be Your will. Bring an astounding peace and comfort to the family and may each one feel Your loving Holy Spirit’s presence and arms wrapping around them.
In Precious Jesus’ name i pray. Amen.

  18. I’m so sorry to hear this. I know it’s an awful time, having been through the same type of situation several times. I’ll be praying for you and your family and your dad. God is the great physician and praise God that your Dad knows Jesus as his savior!

  19. Prayers for your Dad, and all the rest of you…May God’s peace fill all your hearts and ease your spirits.

  20. Definitely will be praying for him and your family. A friend and I were just talking today about how God answers prayers.

  21. I said one prayer before typing my comment, and will pray again for healing until I hear otherwise.

  22. I wouldn’t call you selfish for wanting to keep your dad with you. You love him deeply and it’s only natural to want God to heal him. I am sure God is using this time to deepen yours and your father’s faith. Suffering is a mysterious gift. I just read something by Mother Marie des Douleurs, the foundress of Congregation of the Sisters of Jesus Crucified. She wrote. “The mission of the sick person is to give witness to the cross”.
I am praying for your father and all your family. God bless you.
