A DEVOTED LIFE 
My wife and I actually do our gift exchanging in Saint Nicolas Day instead of Christmas. It allows us to put more focus on Christ instead of the commercialization. We still do some gift exchanging on Christmas day for my mother’s sake, but we do our primary giving on the 6th. We then top off our gift exchange with a Nicolas Cage movie. 🙂

Thanks JD for your encouragement on Freedomborn, perhaps you would appreciate my focus on Saint Nicholas, I share about Him in my Funday School too so I’m not totally against Santa Clause but today he is just a fairy Story that Children outgrow so they need to know the real meaning of Christmas too, Jesus is all about Love and so is Christmas.

Yes, the real St. Nicholas…a model for Santa Claus. Well said.
Great to remind all about St. Nicholas’ example of kindness, generosity and fact that Christmas is about Christianity. Usually attention shifts from precious acts of such good deeds related to Christmas. I wonder what he would think of his memory being depicted in the image of a fat, commercially-driven fictional character made up to appease the material greed of children and the retail industry.
I’m being sarcastic, I know, but it sounds like this saint was more about Christ than the images of Christmas that seem to overshadow the Savior, at least in this society.
I think that you are right on. I doubt if the real St. Nick would happy with how his image has transformed through the years.
